“Project 32″ (learn to change, change to learn) 08/06/10

There are times in life when reflection is key. Key to balance, perspective, and insight. Key in guiding us through many life moments like change, opportunity, and everything in between. What does it mean to “reflect”? For me, reflection is a process of where I’ve been, where I’m at, and where I’m going. Reflection is not necessarily what you see in the mirror.

According to www.dictionary.com one of the meanings of reflection is this:

re·flec·tion

[ri-flek-shuhn]

–noun

3.  a fixing of the thoughts on something; careful consideration.

Over the course of the past year and in particular the past seven months, I’ve done a lot of reflecting and have made many changes on this path of weight loss and discovery that I follow and have been life altering.  I’ve fallen “off the wagon”, got back on and decided to say screw it and pull the darn thing instead.  Some of those changes have been easy, but for the most part extremely challenging. So much so that each day I must remind myself why I make the healthy or not choices I do.

This isn’t a fad I’m following, it is a lifestyle. A lifestyle that is a continuous work in progress and a roller coaster ride of need versus want.  Good versus bad. Dorito versus carrot. Water versus, well everything else.  I’ve learned much and continue to do so daily. I say “learn to change, change to learn”, which brings me to my “Project 32″.

“Project 32″ is another step in accountability. In taking control of my destiny and reaching my goals this year. The year I turn “32″. You see age is only just a number and mine this year will be 30 + 2.  Project 32 began on June 1, 2010. Approximately six weeks before my actual birthday and will continue all year long. This year my friends, hear me now, is my year. This thirty second year I will attain my ultimate goal and celebrate the journey.

Will you do it with me?

I will continue to use the tools I’ve used along the way in dropping my first TWENTY-SIX pounds like I have! Tools like Social Accountability, EA Sports Active, Gruve, Nintendo Wii, C25K, The Shred, Mamavation, pilates, running, and others. I will continue to reflect and make choices that will make me stronger physically and mentally.  I will post a weekly update. I will take control. I will be fit and fabulous and thirty-two.

This is a project in reflection, social accountability, and change…what number are you?

I’m turning 32 too in October! The funny thing is I keep forgetting how old I am and have to subtract all the time. Then people look at me like I’m nuts. Well, I really don’t pay attention. I’ve always shared my birthday with my mom, so after I turned 16 it wasn’t so important anymore.

Anyways, I love your “Project 32″…its a great way to look at it, especially since it starts now. The ones you start today are the ones that work better. Best not to put off and do today. I’ve missed you and am so glad you are back!
