Stars To Steer By… 05/08/10

Every now and then I come across a piece of poetry that speaks to me. Today is one of those days. I came across an American Greetings card with a beautiful poem written by Kathy Davis that I believe captures what we as human beings should wish for, strive for, work for, love and have great passion for.

I bought it instantly to keep and share. As I read it over again, I started thinking about what “stars” steer my soul. What stars I want to steer this ship and how I can make wishes come true.  The fact is that we all have something or someone that inspires us, makes us want to be better. Better at life, love, writing, a parent, a friend, a significant other…you name it.  Even during difficult times of loss and grief we are never alone as long as we have faith and focus on how we will truly overcome.

Perhaps at times your stars seem dimmer than you want, even hidden behind the clouds. Just know they are there and will shine brightly when you decide to follow your heart, your passion or take a chance to change something in your world or even show compassion for someone else. Like a map, the stars in our life can represent where we’ve been, what we’re doing now and most importantly where we are going. The twists and turns are what make the ride exciting, but the destinations are what shape our lives.

STARS TO STEER BY…

May we break boundaries, tear down walls, and build on the foundation of goodness inside each of us.  May we look past differences, gain understanding, and embrace acceptance.  May we reach out to each other, rather than resist.  May we be better stewards of the earth, protecting, nurturing and replenishing the beauties of nature.  May we practice gratitude for all we have, rather than complain about our needs.  May we seek cures for the sick, help for the hungry, and love for the lonely.  May we share our talents, give our time, and teach our children.  May we hold hope for the future very tenderly in our hearts and do all we can to build for bright tomorrows.  And may we LOVE with our whole hearts, for that’s the only way to love.  ~ Kathy Davis

I’d love to know what stars guide you through life’s great moments and life’s tough moments. Send this post to those special people in your life that make a difference no matter how small. Words are powerful and may help to change a persons perception or even point of view. Embrace your stars and thank them for how bright they make your life.

Absolutely love this…if everyone would take a moment…close their eyes and breathe in all the goodness and love that surrounds them…and just embrace and believe in the goodness that lies sometimes sadly hidden within…xo
